Boat Repair

How I love being an artist !  I sketched this sailboat where she was in for repairs at a yard down in Cape May, New Jersey, yet loved the look of these houses on the water.   So I re-sketched the boat to be across from the houses and closer to the water  (where it would never be in real life), and made everything into one painting.  “Boat Repair” is with a Private Collector on Long Beach Island. Early Morning Walk in France

I just loved how the light bounced around these buildings and wanted to capture the hustle and bustle of this early morning scene.  Early Morning Walk in France is transparent watercolor on Arches 140 lb paper.  The original sold immediately the first time it was exhibited. Caribbean Reverie

“Caribbean Reverie” sold immediately from a Gallery on LBI to a lovely New Yorker.  I painted this transparent watercolor in my studio right after I returned from the Caribbean and could still remember the soft breezes and sense of stillness and peace I felt when I glimpsed this beautiful girl sitting on her veranda.   Share this page on: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Share on X (Opens in new window) X Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)...

Reynard Went That Way

This is just a fun painting I did for Devon Horse Show Art Gallery.  The original half sheet watercolor sold at First Night.  Limited Edition Prints, enhanced by artist’s hand with color pencils, are now available. Anne’s Sheep

This is Arasapha Farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania where Anne’s sheep live.  In the summertime, we would watch as the men skillfully sheared these sheep.  The wool then went to Maine where they were made in a special way into warm blankets and beautiful yarns that were non-allergic due to the process.  When I painted this en plein air,  it was summer,  the sheep were beyond the barn,  and a tree was where the sheep are – – but that is what makes painting such fun – moving things around!
