Bay Fog

That’s San Francisco fog creeping into the South Bay.  I love the way California fog slips along the coast then spills up and over the mountains.   I began Bay Fog en plein air and finished it in my California studio. This oil on canvas was later purchased by an East Coast Collector. Howard’s Beach – Raggedy Ann on the Rocks

Howard’s Beach in Cape May was a lovely place to go in September.  The ocean had warmed up, the sand had cooled down, and the far less crowded beach still had enough activity going on for artists to paint.  Eight of us rented a cottage and swam at this beach almost every day after painting.  The rocks are the jetty just below Howard’s Beach – I thought it was fun to call this Howard’s Beach oil painting – Raggedy Ann on the Rocks. California Coast

California Coast Above Pigeon Point Light is a large 3′ x 4′ oil on canvas that I created in my Pennsylvania studio.  My reference was a small watercolor sketch I had painted on location en plein air.  This oil painting is now in the home of a California Collector. Green Barn-Brandywine

Part of the Brandywine Conservancy, this green barn with the blacksmith shop across the street was painted en plein air and sold immediately to a Pennsylvania Collector the first time it was presented. Hill Farm

This farm in Chester County is fabulous and I have completed a number of plein air oils here.  This favorite is a 20″x 16″ oil and was painted on a day so windy that this canvas was blown several times right off the easel into my face.  If any smudges and smear marks remain, it’s because they fit right in.  Painting was purchased by a Chester County gentleman who liked the impressionistic look.
