My original sketch of this wonderful barn was made in the summertime. The first painting, titled
simply “Hope’s Barn” was small and sold immediately from the Gallery our Art League had in what is
now Eagle Village in Strafford. But, wanting more drama, I decided to create a winter scene instead and after years of thinking about it, I painted this Ardrossan in Winter-Hope’s Barn. It is a half sheet (15” high x 22” wide) with an off-white mat in a 20” high x 27” wide frame. Ardrossan and Hope were the inspiration for The Philadephia Story with Katharine Hepburn and its remake High Society with Grace Kelly.
